Subject: Epson Scanner Perfection 1640SU Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit

Hello,

I have been using the Epson Perfection 1640SU Scanner and I love the images it produces. Now I changed my OS to Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit and became really sad about the poor engagement for new drivers, so I started a little test. I installed the drivers for the Epson Expression 1640XL (my OS warned me not to do so), but it works perfectly fine.

Instructions Download unzip and install the "TWAIN Driver and EPSON Scan Utility v3.04A" (link below) Connect the Scanner to your PC, do not install drivers at this time. Open the Hardware-Manager, right-click-select your scanner and update the driver. Choose manual install, select other hardware, from the list the select the Epson Expression 1640XL. A warning appears - ignore it and install. That's it, you are now ready to use your very old scanner with your new OS. Be aware that you will not get any support.
